IE 11 Headaches? The Quick Fix to your Problems…
In theory, updates are fast, easy, and make your computer operate more efficiently. That is, until something goes wrong. Recently, during an automatic Windows update you may have noticed a problem with Internet Explorer 11. And if so, you aren’t alone. Many of our clients are having trouble accessing their banking sites after the update, making simple tasks such as transferring funds for payroll and wire transfers more frustrating than ever.
The browser isn’t working correctly
To make matters worse, Internet Explorer 11 is causing problems for Outlook web access, automatically defaulting to the lite version of the program. Since there’s nothing more frustrating than spending valuable time fixing computer problems – we’ve outlined a quick solution below that takes minutes.
Solving the Problem… The Options
First off, you could contact your bank to remedy the issue. However, many banks are still catching up with the challenges Internet Explorer 11 is causing – so this can be time consuming. You could also navigate around the Internet Explorer 11 problem by using another browser, such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.
While any of the above options would work, we recommend a quick fix that doesn’t require calling your bank or using an alternate browser. Here’s the steps:
- Use Internet Explorer 11 in compatibility mode. To do this, press “F10” to display the menu bar.
- Select the Tools menu in Internet Explorer 11. Once you access the Tools menu, click Compatibility View settings.
- Add the website you would like to visit to the list of sites to be viewed in compatibility view. Once you’ve completed this process, Internet Explorer 11 saves your Compatibility View settings for the website.
Every time you access the financial institution’s site, Compatibility View will be used. To stop Compatibility View for a website, simply click the Compatibility View icon for that website. You can also add or remove specific sites from Compatibility View without accessing each individual website.
